WENLAN

Somewhere in the definition of Twinkle by Wenlan, there must be a hidden meaning of "whimsical." Wenlan Chia sent out yet another cute and adorable collection of dresses (in super mini and maxi lengths), capri pants, tunic tops, billowy shorts, high-waisted trousers, cropped jackets, and her signature knit sweaters and cardigans.

As the Taiwanese-born Chia continues to nurture her growing mini empire (it includes Twinkle Living, Twinkle Accessories and Twinkle Handknit Yarns), she stays close to the roots of her design appeal, displaying vivid color patterns, organic shapes, intarsia and chandelier prints, and piling on the accessories.

Since launching her ready-to-wear label, fans are familiar with pairings like a silk georgette mauve wallpaper-print dress, with a corn-blue cashmere cropped sweater, and nipped in at the waist with a half-moon charm belt.

FASHION STAYS THE KORS

BLAME Marc Jacobs or a glam-peasant Rachel Zoe if you want - thats all shes been wearing to the tents - but theres a French 70s thing going on for spring. Strident sexy American style with a sporty edge, said the explanation notes for the Michael Kors show. His inspiration was socialite and style icon Slim Keith - the original California girl.

The designer with the sun-kissed glamour obsession set the sunny 70s athletic tone with a swingy bright lemon-and-white tennis dress. He then swung through a Westchester check list of navy, pink and green that was an ode in equal parts to Yves Saint Laurent and the Preppy Handbook. Crisp safari-style jackets and pants alternated with cashmere and Lurex sweater dresses in sherbet stripes that were as yummy as a post-match cocktail. But he faced off the country-club favorites with pretty tiered silk-chiffon peasant dresses - big sleeves, off the shoulder - in polka-dot prints that he named for impressionist painters, so we can all look cultured.
